Retro Game of the Week - 12/09/2018

RETRO GAME OF THE WEEK - 12/08/2018
SPYRO THE DRAGON
This week's Retro Game is Spyro the Dragon.

Released on the 10th September 1998 (yes 20 years ago!) on the PlayStation. The game featured a purple dragon called Spyro who had to go and rescue his friends who had been frozen in time by the evil Gnorc.

There is also a dragonfly who also helps Spyro called Sparx. He is cute. Spyro has always been one of my favourite characters since playing the game Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. He was one of the figurines that came with the game.

That sums up this week's retro game of the week. Hope you all enjoyed it!

Game of the Week - 09/09/2018

GAME OF THE WEEK 09/09/2018
LEGO HARRY POTTER YEARS 1-4
This week's game of the week is Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4.
Lego potter cover.jpg
A game that truly represented my childhood (sort of). Released in 2011, Lego HP was a game for all HP fans, including myself. I use to have the game on DS many years ago when it was first released, but now own it on my Xbox 360. It was also released on the Wii (I think I have that copy lying around somewhere), PS3, iOS, Android, PSP, Mac OS X and Windows. A revamped version of the game was released on PS4 called Lego Harry Potter: The Collection. It is soon coming to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

The aim of this game is like any other Lego game. You run around shooting bad guys and collecting the studs. What's not to like? The only difference is that in this game you attend classes like Charms and Potions, and you earn new spells and other abilities that can be used against the bad guys.

My favourite part of this game is that the cutscenes are still priceless. I know majority of people do not like the classic Lego cutscenes with no talking in as they are annoying, but for myself, as long as I could remember, I played the Lego games with no talking in the cutscenes. This is why I always have and will find them funny.

That's it for this week's game of the week and thanks for reading.
So until next time,

Retro Game of the Week - 09/09/2018

RETRO GAME OF THE WEEK - 09/09/2018
STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC
This week's retro game goes to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic PC box cover
This game was released in 2003 for the Xbox, but has recently became available for backwards compatibility with the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It was also released on Windows, Android, Mac OS X and iOS.

The game itself is set 3,000 years before A New Hope and is a RPG game. You can customise your character to suit your needs. I have recently started to play this game myself and I have chosen to be a Female Soldier. You start off on a Republic Ship which has been taken over by the Sith. There your actions and choices affect whether you are on the light side or on the dark side.

Another fun bit about the game is that you can choose attributes to suit your needs. My attributes are computer use, demolitions and stealth.

That does it for this week's retro game. I thoroughly enjoy playing this game, even though the graphics kinda give me nightmares!

So until next time,
Peace Out - Geekette

Game Soundtrack of the Week - 30/08/2018

GAME SOUNDTRACK OF THE WEEK - 30/08/2018
MEDAL OF HONOR GAME SOUNDTRACK
You join me today with the next installment of Game Soundtrack of the week. This week's Game Soundtrack is Medal of Honor.

Medal of Honor (1999 video game).png

The game itself is a first-person shooter set during WW2. You play an OSS soldier who is tasked with infiltrating different enemy positions and destroying them. It is mainly targeted at the Nazi's (enemy-wise). The game itself was released in 1999 in the EU for the PlayStation.

The soundtrack was composed by Michael Giacchino, who recently composed the Rogue One soundtrack. The soundtrack is composed of 20 tracks which can be heard throughout the game. My favourite track is 'Rescuing the G3 officer'. This is because it was my favourite level of the game.

You can have a little listen here: https://youtu.be/C3dYiawUXJA

So that does it for this short but sweet game soundtrack of the week. Join us next time for another Potter walkthrough :).

So until next time,

Game of the Week - 29/08/18

GAME OF THE WEEK - 29/08/2018
STAR WARS: FORCE UNLEASHED
Today brings you the game of the week! This week's game of the week is the game, Star Wars: Force Unleashed.

The Force Unleashed.jpg

This game was released in 2008 and it is an action-adventure game. You may be wondering why is this the game of the week and not retro game of the week? Well that is because the game itself was released on Xbox 360, which still has games which are currently being produced.

The plot of the game is that you take on the role of Starkiller, Darth Vader's secret apprentice. The main character is usually sent in to undertake missions which have been set by Vader. Vader's only concern is that he has to keep Starkiller a secret from the Emperor. This is because Vader wants Starkiller to help him kill the Emperor.

What I like about this game is that there is an option to choose between the light and dark side right at the end of the game. I like this because it allows you to choose the side that you love the most (the light side will always be my favourite).

That end's today's game of the week. Stay tuned for my next blog post which is most likely going to be Game Soundtrack of the Week.

Retro Game of the Week - 28/08/2018

RETRO GAME OF THE WEEK 28/08/2018
THE SIMPSONS: HIT AND RUN
It's that time of the week when we cover this week's retro game of the week. This week it is the classic The Simpsons: Hit and Run game from 2003.

Image result for the simpsons hit and run

The game was released on the PlayStation 2, Windows, Xbox and GameCube. The game itself was modelled after the Grand Theft Auto games but it featured the Simpsons family as the playable characters.

The plot to the game was that there were mysterious vans appearing in Springfield and this led to stranger things like Crop circles. The Simpsons became curious, so them and their friend Apu decided to investigate the strange goings on.

In the game itself you can play as Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart and Apu. These characters all had their own 'episode' so to speak in where they would drive around and complete missions to finish their episode. Not only do you drive around in your car, smashing objects and hitting pedestrians, but you can also walk around and explore Springfield.

You can earn coins and spend them on clothes for the character or on new cars. One of the cars that you can purchase is Homer's Plow King truck.

Image result for the simpsons hit and run plow king

Personally, I love this game as it has some of the best quotes such as 'I am Evil Homer' or 'I have no insurance!' I give this game a 5 out of 5 as it is one of the classics that everyone played as a kid.

That does it for this week's retro game of the week. Stay tuned for the next blog post.

Until next time,
Peace Out - Geekette

Retro Game of the Week - 14/08/2018

RETRO GAME OF THE WEEK - 14/08/2018
LEGO STAR WARS: THE VIDEO GAME
This week's retro game is Lego Star Wars: The Video Game, a game that I remember playing a lot in my childhood. This game was released in 2005 on the Gameboy Advanced, Windows computers, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox and Mac OS X.

Legostarwarsthevideogame.jpg
Lego Star Wars: The Video Game was the first of the Lego video games to be produced by the company Traveller's Tales (or TT games), who would then go on and produce all of the future Lego games.

The game itself is set in the prequel trilogy (The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith). The aim of the game is for the players to play through the different chapters of the movies. Each of the movies were called 'Episodes' (like in real life) and then those episodes were broken down into 'Chapters'. The players also walk around collecting studs (the Lego game's currency) and unlocking Free Play mode, which allows the player to choose any character that they have unlocked to play on that level.

This game was a childhood favourite of mine as I always loved blowing things up with the lightsabers. I also remember it as one of the first Lego games that I played, as my dad had it on the PlayStation 2. My favourite level on it was probably the Invasion of Naboo level as I love the design of the city, but I also loved the hub, Dexter's Diner.

So that does it for today's short but sweet retro game of the week. I hope you enjoyed it and stay tuned for my next blog post.

GAME SOUNDTRACK OF THE WEEK -13/08/2018
New for this week is a weekly segment called Game Soundtrack of the week. This highlights the soundtrack to a video game that I have featured in the past or I am going to feature in the future. This week's game soundtrack is Stuart Little 3 Big Photo Adventure.

Image result for stuart little 3 big photo adventure
This game was released for the PlayStation 2 all the way back in 2005. You took control of Stuart and tried to collect photos for his brother George's photo album. It was a brilliant game and I loved it. The soundtrack was composed by Game Audio Ltd.

My personal favourite track on this soundtrack is The House, as that is also one of my favourite levels of the game. It is very up-beat and I have fond memories of using Skateboarder Stuart around the house.

Link to the soundtrack playlist made by The Mygoshi Video Game Soundtrack, check it out!

PLAY Expo London 2018 - Part 2: The Haul/Pickups

PLAY Expo London 2018 - Part 2: The Haul/Pickups
So here's my part 2 of my PLAY Expo coverage. This blog post covers all of my purchases from the show. So let's dive into it.

1) Gameboy Advance Games
I've split this post into sections depending on what console they're for and what better way to start but with some GBA game purchases. The first game that I purchased for my GBA was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
This game came complete in a box with an instruction manual and the game cartridge. This game is one of my favourites and I own it on PS, PS2 and PC already so I brought the GBA version so I can play it on the go.

The overall cost was £10.

The next game that I brought on GBA was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (chain much?).

This game also came complete in a box with the instruction manual and the game cartridge. This game is another one of my favourites, although I only own this on PS2.

The overall cost was £8.

GBA Games total = £18

2) PlayStation 2 Games
The next part of the pickups is the PS2 games. The first PS2 game that I purchased was The Simpsons Hit & Run.
This game came is an all time favourite of mine, as it has some of the best quotes (I am Evil Homer!). This game comes with the manual and game disc in the PAL region.

The overall cost was £5.

The next game that I purchased for the PS2 was Harry Potter Quidditch World Cup.

This game is one of the only Harry Potter games that I never owned myself, but I have played it before. (Que shocked noises). This game comes with the manual and game disk in the PAL region, same as the Simpsons Hit & Run Game.

The overall cost was £5.

PS2 Games total = £10

3) PlayStation Games
This next part of the blog is a bit longer than the other part. This is due to the fact I was primarily looking for PlayStation games in the first place. The first game I purchased was Crash Bandicoot.

This game is one that I have been after for a long game. This is probably because of the sound effects and music that the game had as well as the gameplay. This game comes with the box, manual and PAL game disc. The demo disc is missing however, but I'm not too fussed because I just wanted to play the game.

The overall cost was £30.

The next game that I purchased was Silent Hill.

This game is one that was recommended by my dad due to the fact that I wanted to try Resident Evil and my dad had said that this was similar to RE and I could try this game if I wanted a horror game. It comes with the manual and the platinum version of the game, in the PAL region.

The overall cost was £25.

The third game I purchased was Resident Evil.

This game is a well known one for the PlayStation and I struggled to find it cheap anywhere. Then I found the copy I brought. No manual (who cares?) but it comes with the PAL region disk.

The overall cost...£9 (:O).

The fourth game I purchased was Tomb Raider.

This game is one of my favourites as I have Tomb Raider Anniversary on Xbox 360, but I decided to go back old school and get the first game in the series. This game was a part of the PlayStation Value Series and it came with the game manual

The overall cost was £9.

The last game that I purchased was Spyro the Dragon.

This game is another one that I wanted to play and this is after discovering the Skylanders game. This copy of the game does not include the manual but it does include the PAL region game disc.

The overall cost was £25.

PlayStation Games total = £98

Overall cost = £126

So that sums up our part 2 to the PLAY Expo London coverage. I hope you have enjoyed this and stay tuned for the next blog post.

So until next time,

PLAY Expo London 2018 - Part 1: The Show

PLAY Expo London 2018 - Part 1: The Show
Good evening everyone and welcome to another blog post. Today's post is split into two parts. This is because today I attended a games show called PLAY Expo in London. This show was dedicated to everything gaming. They had everything from pinball machines to arcade cabs to retro consoles. The next part is going over the merch that I bought at the show.

So let's dive into it! When I went in, we (myself and my dad) went straight to the pinball machines. I love pinball, so I spent most of my time on the machines and attempting to beat the high scores. The first machine we went on was one called Attack on Mars.

This machine was amazing. The different 'levels' so to speak were you protecting the different cities of the world. I didn't do as well as my dad as I only reached the America level, whereas my dad got to the Italy level. I love the backglass design due to the levels of detail on it.

Our next pinball game which we played was the Star Wars pinball edition.

This machine was one of my favourites. Firstly, it had a LED screen which produced a little video for mission selects and when you finish the game there is another little video. Secondly, I love the theming inside the machine. There is a mini death star which you had to send the ball through and I thought that it was great. I highly recommend playing this game if you ever see it, even if there is a queue for it. It is worth it.

The next pinball machine that I tackled was a Batman themed one.

This machine was themed after the 1995 film, Batman Forever and the machine featured everyone's favourite caped crusader, Batman. What made me love this machine even more than the theming inside is that the plunger was shaped like Batman's Batwing. Awesome!

After tackling some pinball machines, my dad and I decided to go and venture into the depths of the arcade cabs. The first cab that we came across was one for Pac-Mania. Unfortunately, this cab was not working but I took a photo anyway because I thought it looked cool.

I love it how all of the ghosts have names! My favourite is Inky (on the left in the middle).

The first machine that I decided to play was called Pac and Paint. I loved this game. The aim of the game was to paint all of the maze without being caught by the enemies. I never got past the first level, but it was fun enough to play.

The next machine that I played was called Mappy. This was one weird game, I must admit, but it was fun to play. You controlled a mouse who had to recover certain items within the level. To get to the different floors, you used a trampoline to bounce up to reach them. I also, had never reached past the first level of the game.

After playing Mappy for a bit, my dad introduced me to one of his favourite games from when he was younger. I now present to you Rally-X. The aim of this game is to drive a rally car around the track and to collect flags. You also have to avoid other rally drivers, as you do lose lives if they collide with you. This game was extremely fun and addictive to play.

Before we went to lunch, we played one more pinball machine and it was called White Water.

This machine was also an awesome design, as it reminded me of River Rapids rides that you find at theme parks. I didn't do as well as my dad, but I still had fun playing it.

After tiring ourselves in the late morning/early afternoon with pinball and arcade machines, we went for lunch in the food courts that the site had. I had a very nice Chicken Burrito for my lunch, as did my dad. We continued our adventure with our full stomachs and our next stop was Space Invaders.

Space Invaders has always been a favourite in my family, so when I saw the cab, I just had to play it. What I like about this game is that you can do 2 players, which meant that myself and my dad could play together. I didn't go further than the 1st level, but my dad got to the 2nd level.

After shooting some aliens, I decided to keep to the space theming and play some Zaxxon.

This game was fun, as we had to pilot a ship and blow up the enemy's weapons. I found this game extremely addictive as I wanted to see if I could get past the first level, which I couldn't. Nevertheless, it was really fun to play.

After tiring ourselves out with arcade cabs, we decided to go and hit the retro consoles. This was the part I was most looking forward to and I was not disappointed. The first game that we played was on the Sega Mega Drive and it was called Alien Storm.

This game was fun to play as you had to defend your city from an alien invasion. I played as the character Karla (or Karen as she's known in some versions, take your pick on the name you prefer) and you have to play your way through the missions. I got to mission 4 before I died.

The next game that I decided to play was Soul Blade on the PlayStation.

This game is your generic beat 'em up which you can find anywhere. In this game, myself and my dad played battle mode where we did the best of three. I won the first round, but my dad beat me in the other two rounds. I played as the character Siegfried. He looked cool.

I then proceeded to become distracted when my dad had attempted to show me a point and click game. The cause of the distraction was Theme Park on the PC!

This game has always been one of my favourites. I love the creation side to these sort of games and I love creating my own park. The only downside is that I only had the DS version which is a bit different to the PC version. However, I soon gained the hang of it and built a ride for my park, a haunted house.

The next area that we had a look around was the indie area. This is where all of the small developers come together and showcase their games. One game that I am going to give a special mention to is The Mystery of Woolly Mountain. This game brings back the point and click genre to the modern day and you are playing as an Explorer who is trying to find the Witch of the Mountain. I only got to play the demo version, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The game is due for release in the New Year at the moment.

We then proceeded to have a look at the traders and buy lots of cool items, which I'll cover in my next blog post, so stay tuned!

After shopping for lots of bits, we went back to the arcade section where I decided to play some racing cabs. The first racing cab that I played was Enduro Racer.

This cab was basically a motocross racing game. The player has to race their bike to the finish avoiding logs in the process. This game was hard to complete, as I couldn't get the hang of turning on the game. But I did discover one thing, I could do wheelies :D.

The next racing game that I tackled was Power Drift.

This game was fun as you had to race other drivers around a circuit, but your car did power drifts around the corner. The only downside to this game is that in order to advance through the levels you had to be in a certain position when finishing, i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

Next, we went back over to the pinball machines to play some more games.

The machines that we played were The Machine Bride of Pin-Bot and The Phantom of The Opera. We played both of these machines on multiplayer where both myself and my dad got competitive on who would win and beat the high score.

Next, I played a game called Vanguard.

In this game we had to shoot enemies, using four buttons which sent lasers in different directions. We were also controlling a ship, so we had to avoid the enemies shots. I nearly got to the second level of the game, but I died last minute, so I couldn't complete any more missions.

Feeling in a spacey mood, I decided to play the arcade version of Star Wars

This game was awesome as you had to control an x-wing and destroy tie-fighters as well as the death star. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and I also loved the joystick as it was modelled like the x-wing controller from the movies.

After playing this machine, I decided to play some of the Simpsons pinball, as there was no queue. I loved this game as the theming inside the case was awesome and the machine kept on blasting out quotes from the TV show. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of the machine.

Before we left the show we played on three last pinball machines.
These machines were Twilight Zone, Goldeneye 007 and Scared Stiff. I loved all of the machines, the Scared Stiff one for the dead fingers as flippers, the Goldeneye 007 one for the Gun plunger, and the Twilight Zone one for just being awesome!

So at the end of a long day, the show had ended, which gave me the opportunity to snap a quick picture of the pinball machines when all of the lights had been switched back on.

I loved this show, as it was an enjoyable atmosphere with something to do for everyone of all ages. It's a shame I couldn't play all of the systems, but maybe next year I'll get a weekend ticket so I can do everything.

So that does it for today's blog post. Stay tuned for part 2 of my PLAY Expo adventure, which will cover my haul of goods that I got.

So until next time,
Peace Out - Geekette

Retro Console of the Month - August

RETRO CONSOLE OF THE MONTH - AUGUST
NINTENDO DS
I'm back with another retro console of the month and this month's retro console is the Nintendo DS! This was one of my first handheld consoles that I owned with a huge selection of games on it. So let's dive into the history.

Nintendo-DS-Fat-Blue.jpg
The Nintendo DS, originally released by Nintendo in 2004, but it didn't come to Europe until 2005 (*insert sad face here*).  Talks about releasing the DS were dating all the way back from 2002, when the former head of Nintendo talked about releasing a dual-screen handheld console. The console's prototype was shown at E3 2004 and released in Japan and North America later that year.

Fun Fact: DS stands for Dual-Screen or Developer's System. Take your pick. It took me until today's research to find out what DS stood for (facepalm).

The best selling game for the DS was New Super Mario Bros, which sold 30.80 million copies :O.

The NDS had 3 different redesigns; the DS lite (I had 2 of these), DSi and DSi XL.
Nintendo-DS-Lite-Black-Open.jpg
DS Lite

My favourite game on the DS is Professor Layton and the Curious Village. This has to be my favourite because I love the puzzle solving aspect of Professor Layton, although I did find a lot of the puzzles very hard to complete.
Professor Layton and the Curious Village NA Boxart.JPG
So that does it for this month's retro console! Join me for the retro game of the week and the next installment of my Harry Potter PS2 walkthrough :D Yay!

Until next time,

Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough - Year 1 Chapter 3: Dealing with Trouble

Hogwarts Mystery Walkthrough - Year 1 Chapter 3: Dealing with Trouble
We are back again for our next dose of Hogwarts Mystery. This time we start Chapter 3; Dealing with Trouble.
As soon as we exit the Potions Room, we come across a new boy called Ben who is also in our Year, but in Gryffindor.
Ben: You're (full name), right?
OC: ...Yes. Who are you?
Ben: Ben Copper. I'm a first-year like you. I just wanted to say thank you for standing up
     to Merula Snyde.
OC: Who told you I did that?
Ben: I was watching from the end of the corridor.
Ben: I've been following her so she can't sneak up on me, and if she sees me, I'll at least
have a chance to run away.
Ben: She tormented me the entire way her on the Hogwarts Express. She keeps threatening me,
     and calling me a Mudblood.
OC: I'm sorry, Ben. That's terrible.
Ben: Merula is obsessed with being the best witch in our year, and she thinks she has to
impose her will on us to prove it.
Ben: I'm just glad someone was brave enough to stand up to her. I'm certainly not. It's a
joke that I got put in Gryffindor.
OC: Everyone is afraid of something, Ben.
Ben: Unfortunately, I'm afraid of everything. I come from a Muggle famil, so all of this is
     new and scary to me.
OC: I know how you feel. I come from a wizard family, and this hard for me too.
OC: I'll try to help you however I can, Ben.
Ben: Thanks, (name). I'll see you around.

House Prefect: You already lost (House) ten House Points?! We're in fourth place now. What happened?
OC: I'm sorry, but who are you, and why are you talking to me about House Points?
House Prefect: I'm your Prefect (Prefect's Full Name).
House Prefect: It's a Prefect's job to keep order in the house, and help first-years like you with their problems.
I chose the middle option, I'm sorry because I'm a good person really.
OC: I don't know what happened, but I never wanted to hurt (house)'s chance of winning the House Cup.
House Prefect: I believe you (name). I would talk to Snape if I thought it would do any good.
House Prefect: In any case, Professor Snape already sent you a letter directly to our Common Room.
OC: Why wouldn't he send it to me?
House Prefect: Probably because he despises you.
House Prefect: Snape hates everyone, so I wouldn't take it personally, but I would read that letter immediately.
OC:'(Surname), I have discovered evidence that your potion may have indeed been tampered with.'
OC:'While it does not prove your innocence, it does cast doubt on my belief that you are hopelessly incompetent.'
OC:'Bring me a jar of Pickled Slugs from the Potions Storeroom, and  I will consider restoring your House Points. Snape'
OC: There's directions to the Potions Storeroom at the bottom of the letter...
I chose yes because I need a good friend.
OC: Thanks, Rowan. You know your way around the castle much better than me.
House Prefect: He's offering to give us back ten House Points you lost! Hurry to the Potions Storeroom before he changes his mind!
This next part of the story is going to the Potions Storeroom to collect the slugs in order to gain 10 House Points.
OC: The directions on Snape's letter say this is the Potions Storeroom.
Rowan: I always thought it was located in the Tapestry Corridor. I suppose there must be more than one..
OC: I need to find a jar of Pickled Slugs and bring them to Snape, so I can get those ten House Points back.
Your Character and Rowan then enter the Storeroom to collect the Slugs.
OC: I can't see a thing...
OC: Why did you close the door, Rowan?
Rowan: I didn't. It closed behind me as soon as I stepped inside. And I think it's locked...
Rowan: You should cast the Wand-Lighting Charm to help us see...
OC: LUMOS!
OC: What is that thing?!
Merula: A deadly plant called Devil's Snare. Some fourth-year Slytherins showed it to me when I first arrived.
Merula: It's sensitive to light. If you're really better at the Wand-Lighting Charm than me, escaping it should be no problem.
OC: Merula?! You locked us in here?!
Merula: Along with sending a fake letter from Snape. I told you things would only get worse for you, (Surname).
Merula: You should have never blamed me for your failure in Potions...
Merula: Something has to stop you from ruining Hogwarts. It may as well be Devil's Snare...
OC: AHHH!
Rowan: (name)!
OC: We have to get out of here!
Rowan: Merula is right about Devil's Snare being sensitive to light.
Rowan: Use Lumos to hold it off while I try to open the door, and call for help.
Rowan: Help! We're trapped in here with Devil's Snare! Someone help!
This adventure lasts 8 hours and requires the player to tap on the Devil's Snare and cast lumos a couple of times on it in order to escape.
OC: LUMOS!
Rowan: Keep it up, (name)! I think I hear someone!
???: What's goin' on in there?
???: Outta the way!
Hagrid: Gulpin' Gargoyles, (house)! Get away from that Devil's Snare. Yer scarin' it!
OC: I'm scaring it?!
Hagrid: Let's get yeh outta here...
OC: You saved my life! Thank you, Mister...
Hagrid: Rubeus Hagrid, at yeh service. I'm Keeper of the Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. Pleasure to meet yeh.
OC: I'm (full name).
Hagrid: Ah, yer the one everyone's been talkin' about. Maybe trouble really does run in yer family.
Hagrid: How'd yeh end up in there, (name)?
OC: A first-year named Merula Snyde locked us inside.
I chose the 1st option because I don't want to get into anymore trouble.
OC: I'm going to tell Professor Dumbledore, and make sure she's punished.
Hagrid: Do yeh have any proof?
OC: I have a fake letter from Snape, but I can't prove she's the one who wrote it.
Hagrid: Professor Dumbledore would want to help yeh, but even he can' do anything if yeh don' have proof.
Hagrid: I'd head back to yeh Common Room, an' take some time teh think, (name). I don't want yeh doin' somethin' yeh'll regret.
Hagrid: Yeh might also want to do somethin' about those robes. That Devil's Snare got yeh good.
OC: Thanks, Hagrid. Hopefully, I'll see you again.
Hagrid: Yeh certainly will, (name). But fer now, yeh'd better get back teh yeh Common Room.
House Prefect: Bloody Hell! What happened to your robes?
OC: I got snared by Devil's Snare.
House Prefect: Devil's Snare?! How? What happened with Professor Snape?
OC: It was a trick. Merula Snyde faked the note, and trapped me in a room with Devil's Snare.
House Prefect: What is it with you and this girl?
OC: I think she's threatened by me. And I think she hates that I'm the only first-year who's stood up to her.
House Prefect: And I take it you once again don't have any proof?
OC: I have the fake letter from Snape, but I can't prove she's the one who wrote it.
House Prefect: Well, you can't go around the castle like that. (head of house) will have a fit.
House Prefect: People already look at you like you're mad because of your brother.
House Prefect: Go and change into some fresh robes, or better yet, pick something to wear outside of class hours.

I basically didn't want to spend any money so I put on new robes (free of charge).
House Prefect: Wow! That's much better. Now you don't look like someone used you to practise the Severing Charm.
OC: Thanks, but I'm mainly just happy to be alive.
House Prefect: Well, you'd better hurry to your first Flying Class before you're expelled.
House Points: See if you can find a way to earn back House Points while you're there...
This is where the flying lessons take place. Tap on Ben to get started.
Madam Hooch: Welcome to your first Flying Class. I will be your instructor, Madam Hooch.
Madam Hooch: You'll begin by observing, before learning to summon your broom in your next Flying Class.
Madam Hooch: Well what are you waiting for? Everyone, step you to the left side of your broomstick.
Ben: I've been dreading this class all summer...
OC: You're afraid of heights?
Ben: Falling from heights, mostly. I told you I come from a Muggle family. The idea of flying through the sky on a broom is terrifying.
OC: Believe it or not, I've never flown on a broom either. My mum was pretty strict about us using magic outside of school.
I chose the 1st option to give Ben some encouragement.
OC: You can do this, Ben. Just concentrate on the broom, and try not to think about falling.
Ben: Do you promise to catch me if I fall?
OC: I promise to try my best.
Ben: That's not very reassuring, but I suppose I have to try sooner or later...
Madam Hooch: Even you don't have anything to fear from today's lesson, Mr Copper. You will only be observing today...
Madam Hooch: Listen up, everyone. I am going to demonstrate proper broomstick techniques.
I went for the extra courage points.
You gain extra courage points if you complete the focus correctly.
Madam Hooch: Listen up, boys and girls. I am going to explain several important bits of information to you.
I went for more courage points this time.
Answer: Phoenix
Ben: I suppose I don't have to worry about falling if I never actually fly...
Ben: Thank you for helping me, (name). I may be able to fly soon if I keep following your lead.
Madam Hooch: I think you've chosen a fine tutor, Mr Copper.
Madam Hooch: Mr/Miss (surname), you appear to have a knack for helping your classmates overcome their fears.
Madam Hooch: Ten points to (house).
OC: You just need to get used to the idea of flying, Ben. I'm sure Rowan has some books about flying that we can borrow.
Ben: I do like reading books. Hardly anyone falls to their death while reading books...
OC: I've been meaning to talk to Rowan anyway. We've had a rough go of it so far, and I think she takes it harder than me.
Ben: You should ask her to play Gobstones! I'd play myself, but I'm afraid of getting sprayed...
OC: Thanks for inviting me, Rowan. After everything with Merula and Snape, I could use a break.
OC: Hogwarts shouldn't be about bullies, and barely escaping death. It should be about learning magic, and having fun.
Rowan: Wait until you play Gobstones! I play it on the farm all the time.
Rowan: Mostly because I'm not strong enough to help with the actual farming...
Rowan: It will be fun to play with an another person for once...
Rowan: Thanks for helping me adjust to things here, by the way...
OC: Of course. It's nice having a friend who understands me, and can help explain everything about Hogwarts.
Rowan: I wish I could explain why Merula is such a bully...
Rowan: I've been researching her family to understand why she acts the way she does...
OC: Let's just relax, and you can tell me what you found out about Merula while we play...
Rowan: Brilliant! Gobstones is the finest skill-testing manual dexterity game in the world!
Rowan: It's a bit like the Muggle game Marbles, except that every time a point is scored, the loser gets sprayed in the face!
OC: Sprayed with what?
Rowan: No one knows, but it smells awful!
Rowan: Good luck, (name)! The only time I ever lose at Gobstones is when I get distracted...
Pairing 1: Let's Play (name) - What are your favourite books?
Pairing 2: How do you like Gobstones? - Let's talk about Wand Wood...
Pairing 3: Let's join the Gobstones Club - Let's bunk off school...
Pairing 4: I can't believe you might win... - The library burned down.
Rowan: Good game, (name).
Rowan: Some people think Gobstones isn't cool, but I've always considered it to be the thinking witch's quidditch.
Rowan: Thanks for playing. I've never been especially good at making friends.
OC: We became friends pretty quickly...
Rowan: Yeah, but most people think I'm either a useless weakling or an awkward nerd. You're weird like me.
Rowan: No offence.
OC: I take it as a compliment.
Merula: Isn't this precious?
Merula: Hello, (surname). You are unfortunately looking well after wrestling with the Devil's Snare.
Merula: While you were off playing with plants, I've been doing a little research about your brother.
OC: Why don't you just leave me alone?
Merula: Because you are a danger to Hogwarts just like him, and none of us will be safe until you're gone.
Rowana: What are you talking about, Merula?
Merula: (surname)'s brother didn't just get expelled for endangering the entire school in search of some imaginary vaults...
Merula: He immediately went missing, and the next time he was seen, he was working for Voldemort.
Rowana: You can't say that! You have to call him He Who Must Not Be Named!
Merula: I say what I want.
OC: You're lying about my brother having anything to do with He Who Must Not Be Named.
Merula: No wonder why the professors were talking about you before the Feast.
I chose the reason with her because why not?
OC: What happened to make you so mean? Why don't you just live your own life, and leave me alone?
Merula: Why don't you just drop out of Hogwarts? Save (house) and your little friend here the embarrassment of being associated with you.
OC: You're just afraid that I'll be better than you.
I could only pick one.
OC: Lumos!
Merula: Pathetic.
Merula: Flipendo!
Merula: Learn a few more spells, (surname). Maybe next time you'll put up a fight.
Rowan: Merula is never going to leave us alone...
OC: Not unless I learn more spells, and find someone who can teach me how to duel...
Here we can view our friendship levels with the other characters in the game.
Here we can see the lessons that we have taken and the spells, potions and other magical arts that we have learnt. In order to complete Chapter 3, we need to complete the Flying Lesson.
Madame Hooch: Welcome back to Flying Class. After observing for your first lesson, I will now teach you how to summon your broom.
Madame Hooch: Before you can summon your broom, however, you need to learn how to maintain it. To your broom care stations!
Madame Hooch: It's time to practice summoning your broom. Step up, hold out your right hand, and say... up!
So that's Chapter 3 complete! Stay tuned for Chapter 4.
Until next time,
Peace Out - Geekette
